It may not have been the ‘Emerald City’, but a good time was had by the K-4th graders and their parents who particpated in the first Fall book club event. It was great to see familiar faces and some really great new readers. Special thanks to Melissa for hosting some activities for the pre-schoolers.
The readers worked through the characters and themes of the first 8 chapters of the Wizard of Oz. We noted how the characters grew to accepting who they you are. We all learned that Harry Potter books aren’t the only series available. There are many ‘Oz’ books in the series to explore! We are planning a visit to the Oz exhibit at The Henry Ford Museum. http://www.thehenryford.org/events/wizardOfOzExhibit.aspx – tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 25. More info to come soon.
