Metro Jazz Voices Concert Event – Thursday, July 28

Our next event is this Thursday, July 28, at Heritage Park Amphitheater.  We’ll be attending the free concert of Metro Jazz Voices.

To prepare or to get more out of the concert, some activity ideas are listed below.

For the younger kids (K-8):

Classics for Kids Jazz Resources — http://www.classicsforkids.com/shows/jazz.asp
(this last one is the group that we’ll be seeing…maybe it would be fun to listen to some different versions of some of these standards, and compare them?)
For high school age kids:
Glossary of Jazz Terminology, compiled by Joel Yoder (thank you!)

Another idea for all ages is to let kids re-interpret the music as another art form… drawing, painting, or sculpture.  That seems like something easy to do during the concert itself… bring some markers or play-doh, and ask the kids to create the musical piece as a drawing or sculpture… heck, that kinda sounds like fun for the grownups, too.  🙂

Hope to see you there!
